Makku - The Social Disability

Makku “Tamil Short Film” – Produced by TYCL & Mughil Social Welfare Organisation. Makku, a short film about sluggishness of children. This short film has been screened in various schools and social spaces. It was also submitted to the Education Department, Government of Puducherry to be screened in schools. This film has reaches more than two lakhs views on youtube. Makku also received “Best Social Cause” Award from Surabi International Film Festival in Chennai.

The film’s director Imam Jaffar who makes ad films for a living, wanted to take up a message which he could relate to. “A student who scores well becomes the teacher’s apple of the eye while the one who scores poorly becomes an object of scorn, no matter how talented he or she is. These students are branded as Makku, hence the title.”
