Rain Relief -2015
After the 2015 floods, TYCL and MUGHIL volunteer teams worked in Cuddalore, Villapuram and Puducherry to provide necessary items to people affected by the devastating rains. With roads in poor condition and blocked with people seeking relief and shelter, our volunteers ran nighttime distributions to avoid the crowds. Despite the distance and limitations on resources, we were able to reach the neediest of people and provide them with various goods including bread, biscuits, milk powder, rice, groceries, sanitary napkins, towels, bedsheets, tarpaulin (for houses without roof), floor mats and dresses. In just seven days our team provided aid to over 20,000 individuals in 38 different villages.

After providing emergency relief, the next step towards rehabilitation was to increase the resilience capacity of the people affected by the rains in Cuddalore, Villapuram and Puducherry. To help with this effort, our teams distributed Family Kits to those most in need. Each Family Kit included:
- An Envirofit STOVE, which reduces smoke by 80%
- GROCERY items including rice, sugar, wheat, tea powder, basic masala items, soaps, oils, and flour (a total of 31 items which could be sustained for fifteen days)
- UTENSILS like plates, pans, tumblers, etc. (a total of 17 items)
The floods brought havoc to many parts of the populations of Cuddalore, Villapuram and Puducherry. Apart of our post-flood reconstruction work, we adopted Kurinjipadi Girls Higher Secondary School in Cuddalore. The school serves over 1245 students and their sanitary and hygiene conditions were severely compromised by the flood. We successfully implemented the following initiatives for reconstruction:

- Rebuilt Class Room Infrastructure
- Psycho Socail Care Awareness Program
- Women’s Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program
- Sanitary Product Distribution
